A widow who recently lost her husband to Alzheimer’s Disease
Working 8 hours per week: I let myself into her home to begin the day (I’ve been working with her for over a year and she trusts me in her home). I identify what needs to be taken care of and do it, based on my familiarity with her needs and wants. I also know which ongoing projects need attention. For example, since the death of her husband, she has needed help with legal paperwork, discarding what she has decided to let go of, and maintenance of her home.
A professional working mom
Working on an hourly basis: Professional working moms are most in need of an assistant who does NOT add more to their to-do list. My highest priority and skill in working with overwhelmed mothers is to be the one person in their life who anticipates what needs to get done without being told or asked a million questions about the details. The list of tasks I specialize in includes: clearing out toys and organizing play areas or bedrooms, decluttering the laundry room, purging the pantry or fridge to encourage healthy food choices, cleaning the baseboards, reorganizing the linen closet, meeting the appliance repairman for a service call, prepping for a party and cleaning up afterwards, gardening, painting… the list goes on and on.
